Chinchero is located high on the windswept plains at an altitude of 3762 meters. It is approximately 30 km from Cusco. I however, did the trip from Ollanta, Sacred Valley via taxi. It took about 40 minutes and cost 100 soles. Train to machu picchu
Sundays in Chinchero is the main market day. The market in this village is much less touristy than in other villages in the Sacred Valley, such as the one in Pisac.
